Data

Size distribution data from the Differential Mobility Particle Sizing System (DMPS) has been reported to the World Data Centre for Aerosol (EBAS).

Below is a figure from P. Tuved et. al.: Arctic aerosol life cycle (2013). It shows the monthly mean size distributions for the years March 2000 - March 2010. The Arctic haze period (March-May) is dominated by an almost mono-modal accumulation mode aerosol, which shifts into a nuclei-Aitken-mode size range dominated aerosol during the summer months. When the sun finally drops below the horizon at the end of the summer period, the size distribution again display more aged aersol characteristics where the abundance of small particles deceases and hte relative fraction of accumulation mode particles increases.
